| The University of Mobile Center for Leadership’s newest book, “We Forgot! The 7 Unlearned Lessons of 9/11,” will be featured in an upcoming presentation and book signing at Daphne Public Library.
The event will be held March 12 at 10 a.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Daphne Public Library is located at 2607 U.S. Hwy. 98 in Daphne, Ala.
Dr. Joe Savage, director of the Center for Leadership, and Amy Wright, assistant director, co-authored the book last fall.
“We Forgot!” contains seven lessons drawn from events surrounding the 1789 inauguration of George Washington and the national response following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Savage says the current national crisis is due in part to the American people's failure to remember the foundational truths conveyed by our nation's founders.
"Today, our country is in crisis once again. As we struggle to find solutions for our economic, political, and social turmoil, perhaps the answers we need are found within another memorable day in the heart of New York City -- April 30, 1789. Follow the path of George Washington on inauguration day and rediscover the truths that define the character of the American people,” Savage wrote on the book’s inside cover.
Wright said the lessons in “We Forgot!” serve as “a poignant reminder that each of us has a personal responsibility to preserve our liberty. I hope the book can help our community learn more about how to preserve the freedom with which we have been entrusted.”
